Welcome to Beautiful Mount Welby, an Historic Country Home

A visit to the Shenandoah mountain region of Virginia is a visit back in time, and Mount Welby is the perfect setting for this journey. Virginia is cherished for its sweeping and beautiful geography, Atlantic beaches, the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as its fantastic and important history. The Historic Mount Welby is in the heart of it all.  Come and visit this beautiful country estate in the heart of Virginia Wine Country just sixty miles from Washington DC.
Step back in time while staying at our lovely country estate. This home was built in 1823 and underwent a full restoration in 2004, keeping the charm of the original wood-and-stone home but updating it with modern amenities such as the gourmet kitchen, jacuzzi and bar-b-que, and undoing the damage of nearly two-hundred years of wear. The lovely white country home is perfectly situated on top of a small hill, offering spectacular views in every direction.
This three-story home has five bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and sleeps ten guests comfortably. The living space is expansive, with a large great room, sizeable gourmet kitchen, library, study, and several porches and balconies. Though the house is impressive, it is the grounds you will fall in love with. The sixty-three acre estate includes manicured gardens, expansive patios, wild meadows, several ponds, a babbling brook, shade trees, and panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah National Park and the historic Skyline Drive. It is a great place to relax or play.
Mount Welby is just sixty miles west of Washington, DC and its surrounding suburbs – close enough to commute – but with its pristine forests and old buildings, it feels a million miles away.  Located in the heart of Virginia's Wine Country with eight vineyards within five miles of the property, Mount Welby is a great place to use as a home base while visiting the surrounding area.
